Unless the mother-to-be ensures herself of healthy nutrition, she cannot expect the growing fetus to develop properly to its full size and be delivered without any problems.  Also, proper pregnancy nutrition ensures that the baby is born healthy with a correct birth weight.</p>
<p>Of course, a diet has to be adhered to; the pregnant woman cannot eat anything and everything that she wants to!  The doctor is always there for guidance.  In fact, the help of a qualified dietician can be taken to plan out a proper nutrition chart for the entire length of the pregnancy.</p>
<p>In general, proper pregnancy nutrition should include the following—</p>
<p>(1)  Calcium is a very important mineral since it aids in the baby developing strong bones.  So the expectant mother needs a daily dose of calcium.  According to the US Recommended Daily Allowance for Calcium, the mother-to-be has to ingest 1000 mg of calcium per day.  The same holds true even after delivery of the newborn since the mother will breast-feed the baby.  Proper pregnancy nutrition demands that the expectant mother drink up to four glasses of milk per day.  Some women get a feeling of nausea when trying to drink milk.  In such cases, ordinary cheese, cottage cheese or yoghurt can be recommended as a substitute for milk.</p>
<p>(2)  For proper pregnancy nutrition, it is vital to have an adequate intake of folic acid and iron.  At least 400 mg of folic acid a day has to be consumed by the pregnant woman, if she wants to make sure that her baby is free from problems like spina bifida or even other forms of brain damage.  Folic acid can be found in foods like nuts, leafy green vegetables, beans and certain breakfast cereals. <p>Nutrition is the science that studies how people eat and how eating affects their health and performance. This includes foods or food components that cause diseases or deteriorate health such as eating too many calories. This is a major contributing factor to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Personal health depends partially on the social structure of one’s life. </p>
<p>Healthy eating is a choice but not much of a choice for those who simply lack the knowledge, awareness and clear understanding about healthy cooking. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources as well as physical capacities. Health represents the amount of damage a character can take before death.</p>

<p>Nutrition in schools reached an all time low in the 1990&#8217;s in America. School administrators and government officials were asleep at the wheel. Well, hopefully they were asleep at the wheel. Because the only other possibility is that they were so greedy for the corporate fast food and junk food dollars pouring into their institutions to care about the damage being done to the Nation&#8217;s students in the form of obesity, type 2 diabetes and students being overweight. In any case, money was flowing in, obesity was outof control and no healthy fundraising solutions were being sought.</p>
<p>In the 1990&#8217;s and early in the 21st century, it was an absolutely insane situation in America&#8217;s schools. Corporate fast food and candy giants would sign lucrative contracts with school districts, wherein they would not only market their unhealthy food to students, but limit competition and eliminate direct competition, in the process. This was a unique and sad period in American education. Anyone who went to school in this country in the 1970&#8217;s and early 1980&#8217;s knows this wasn&#8217;t the case then. It was impossible to get candy or other fast food on campus. You would either eat in the cafeteria or bring your lunch. There were no candy filled vending machines. As far as cafeteria meals, they were prepared according to USDA guidelines. All of that changed in the 1990&#8217;s.</p>
<p>Surely this situation played a part in the soaring, out of control obesity rates in this country. Concurrently in the 1990&#8217;s, U.S. Adults began consuming fast food and candy on a daily basis, rather than the occasional treat it had traditionally been. This has had a terrible effect on the health of this country. Because of bad nutrition habits, obesity, overweight and type 2 diabetes rates have never been higher. Profits soared while thoughts of nutrition and healthy fundraising solutions plummeted.</p>
<p>Thankfully in the 21st century, some of this has begun to change. The USDA has issued the &#8220;HealthierUS School Challenge.&#8221; This is a program wherein schools agree to comply with basic nutrition regulations and are certified as &#8220;Team Nutrition&#8221; Schools. Once certified, they receiving funding and periodic reviews to check for compliance. The re-certification is contingent on maintaining a fast food free campus and searching for healthy fundraising solutions.  Additionally, schools that sign on to programs like these gain respect and stature in the educational community as pioneers in promoting better health and nutrition in America.</p>
<p>Obviously this alone will not solve the problem. There is no stronger force in advertising than the fast food, candy and soda industry. But with educators and the USDA getting involved, a difference is being made. You can do your part by speaking up for nutrition, education and healthy fundraising solutions.</p>

<p>When it comes to making choices for the overall health of our bodies, food plays one of the most predominant roles. While poor nutrition can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and a host of illness and disease, good nutrition can be the most important tool to achieving optimum health and ideal weight.</p>
<p>Good nutrition comes in the form of a healthy diet; a diet focused around whole, natural foods such as fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy. A healthy diet should resemble a colorful palette &#8211; deep, vibrant colors that reflect the concentration of vitamins and minerals essential to good health.</p>
<p>Protein, a part of good nutrition, can be found in foods such as lean meats, whole nuts, and soy products. Healthy carbohydrates are found in whole grain breads, sweet potatoes, brown rice, and wheat pasta. Low-fat dairy provides adequate reserves of calcium. And Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits. Many people choose to eat only organic foods as a way to minimize additives and ensure that the foods they eat contain the highest nutritional value possible.</p>
<p>Additionally, experts agree that good nutrition includes adequate hydration. The drinking of at least eight glasses of water a day flushes the body of toxins, speeds metabolism, aids digestion, and acts as a natural appetite suppressant.</p>
<p>In combination with this diet regime, it is essential to minimize &#8211; and even avoid altogether &#8211; foods that are fried, processed, and high in salt, sugar, and saturated fats.</p>
<p>In the search for optimum nutrition it is important to first analyze the diet you currently follow. Look for ways to gradually add more natural foods to your diet and minimize those foods that lack fundamental nutrients and are highly caloric. If you find it difficult to make these adjustments, it may be beneficial to work with a nutritionist who can tailor a diet to your particular lifestyle.</p>
<p>Ultimately, nutrition that positively affects health, vitality, and longevity, means a commitment to a varied diet of vitamin and mineral packed food.</p>

<p>In an effort to reach optimum nutrition it is important to make a commitment to focusing on particular food groups. Experts agree that color is the key when filling up your plate with food. Fresh fruits and vegetables &#8211; part of optimum nutrition &#8211; come in all shades of beautiful colors; the deep orange of a blood orange, the red of an apple or strawberry, the intense blue of a blueberry. Fresh vegetables are best served green; green, leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, and broccoli.</p>
<p>When it comes to carbohydrates, color is still vital to achieving optimum nutrition. Sweet potatoes are more nutritious than white potatoes; wheat pasta is a better choice than white pasta; brown rice beats white rice, and dark whole grain bread is far better than processed white bread.</p>
<p>The combination of these healthy choices along with lean proteins, low-fat dairy products, and at least eight glasses of water a day will go a long way to achieving optimum nutrition. Of course, part of this commitment is the minimizing &#8211; if not altogether elimination &#8211; of foods that are fried, processed, and contain high levels of sugar, salt, and saturated fat.</p>
<p>Ultimately, if you are you going about achieving optimum nutrition the right way, your plate should reflect a variety of beautiful colors; foods that hold an enormous amount of vitamins and minerals. Make a game out of if by choosing foods that are a part of this nutritious rainbow. The most important thing is to implement this lifestyle within the home, giving your family the tools it needs to stay healthy for a lifetime. Work as a team to find new and exciting recipes that showcase seasonal foods and pack nutrition and taste into every bite.</p>

<p>Nutrition is actually a science, which can get quite complex in theory.  Nutrition information is concerned with the chemical make up of food, how this food is digested, how it is absorbed and used by your body.  It is all about how it is used to promote health, and how it is used to prevent and eliminated illness.</p>
<p>For the normal person, the nutrition they need to learn is the practical side of nutrition.  Learning some theory and mixing it with good practical nutritional habits is essential for maintaining your body free from illness.</p>
<p>Inflammation comes from excess acid in your body.  This acid is created from the foods you eat.  Eating certain foods leave an acid residue in your cells that then travels into the liquid surrounding your cells – lymph liquid. In the lymph liquid, this acid can damage the surrounding cells and tissue and in doing so starts the inflammation process.</p>
